Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has vowed to resist political pressure ahead of the 2027 elections, saying his job will speak for him.
According to a Naija News report, Yusuf made this known in Kano State, warning residents of the state against making inflammatory statements ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor said he is not worried about re-election in 2027, but is concerned about fulfilling the mandate given to him during his first term as a dividend of democracy.
Yusuf said he intends to serve a second term as governor if Allah wills.
“I’m not worried about re-election. I’m more interested in fulfilling the mandate given to me during this first term and delivering the benefits of democracy,” he said.
“I want the good people of Kano to judge me on my performance after the end of my term.
“We know people who were rejected wholesale in both 2019 and 2023. We won. But Allah enabled us to win by a landslide.
“I am destined to be governor. I fully believe and submit to the will of Allah that if Allah wills, I will serve a second term. Well, I don’t. So why should I bother?
“My performance speaks for me, not political pressure.”
