Nasarawa State House of Assembly Speaker Danladi Jatau has appealed to Nigerians to remain hopeful, saying the many challenges plaguing the country can be overcome.
Prime Minister Jatau, in a statement by his spokesperson Jibrin Gwamuna, who resides in Lafia, appreciated the patience, loyalty, understanding and support of Nigerians to his government.
The Chairperson acknowledged the country’s challenges, from insecurity to economic hardship, but said there was hope to overcome them.
Mr Jatau paid tribute to the tireless efforts of the founding fathers and said their efforts would never go in vain.
He said the progress and development achieved so far in the country is a result of the loyalty, patience, understanding and support of Nigerians to both past and present governments.
The speaker congratulated all 64-year-old Nigerians and 28-year-old Nasarawa State residents and wished them a richer and fruitful year ahead.
He noted that despite the challenges, neither the state nor the nation has stagnated and significant progress has been made since its creation.
“I want to thank our founding fathers for making it possible for us to be independent in this country.
“So far so good since independence in this country.Despite our challenges, this country is progressing and moving forward. “I’m not doing it,” he said.
Jatau also urged Nigerians to use Independence Day to reflect on the sacrifices of our founding fathers.
He called on everyone to strive to ensure that their labor is never wasted by actively contributing to the development of the country.
The speakers called on Nigerians to continue praying for the unity, peace, progress and development of the country.
He encouraged people to pray to overcome security and economic difficulties, among other challenges facing the country.
Jatau also called on the people of the state and Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu, Governor Abdullahi Sule and other leaders at all levels to succeed.
Speakers appealed to the people to abide by the law, respect established authorities and live in peace with each other in order to develop and prosper.
