The National Science, Technology and Infrastructure Agency and Imose Technologies Ltd have partnered to launch a new line of made-in-Nigeria laptops and tablets customized for Nigerian consumers.

This development was disclosed in a statement on Monday by Mr. Chima Akwaja, Deputy Director of Information at NASENI.

The 14-inch NASENI Zedon X-Pro laptop is equipped with a Core i5 processor, offering a combination of power, portability, and practicality.

Plus, the 10.5-inch tablet is designed to balance functionality and portability, making it suitable for tasks such as document editing, video streaming, and gaming.

The agency said the device is aimed at catering to a diverse audience, including students and professionals seeking reliable computing solutions.

The initiative is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “New Hope” agenda, which prioritizes the development of local content and cooperation among economic actors to stimulate economic growth.

By producing these devices locally, NASENI aims to enhance job creation, support Nigeria’s technology sector, and strengthen efforts to develop indigenous manufacturing capabilities.

NASENI Executive Vice Chairman Khalil Khalil said the partnership is “a strategic move in line with the agency’s 3C principles of Collaboration, Creation and Commercialization – working together with the same purpose.” Therefore, we are working with Imose Technologies to bridge the technology gap by reducing import bills.

“We are transforming the agency by adopting, adapting and indigenizing cutting-edge technology to become a central player in Nigeria’s technological revolution. We are building a national brand where any of our NASENI products will be placed,” Khalil added.

“For 10 years, we have been working to address Nigeria’s unique challenges by championing local manufacturing of mobile and computing devices to improve lives and transform local institutions,” said Imose Technologies Chairman Osai Izedonmwen. “We have been relentlessly focused on solving the problem.”

He added: “We are proud that NASENI has chosen to partner with us for domestic production of laptops to bridge the digital divide and improve access to technology for education and work.
