The Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) has awarded certificates of return to 13 newly elected local government area chairmen who won the recently held elections.
While presenting the certificate at a ceremony held at the commission’s headquarters on Monday, NASIEC Chairman Barrister Ayuba Usman Wandai said the event was characterized by transparency, credibility and a true reflection of the will of the voters. This marks the successful completion of the electoral process.
“We are proud that NASIEC conducted elections with a clear commitment to fairness and integrity. The filing of this Certificate of Return confirms NASIEC’s ultimate legal responsibility in the electoral process as required by law. “We do so with confidence in the reliability of the process and the validity of the results,” he said.
The NASIEC President took the opportunity of this event to express his gratitude to all the stakeholders who played an important role in the successful implementation of this election. He highlighted the invaluable contribution of security agencies in peacekeeping and the efforts of traditional leaders in promoting unity and cooperation.
He further acknowledged the constructive engagement of the Bipartisan Advisory Committee, the impartial coverage by the media, and the active involvement of political parties, noting that all of these helped ensure the smooth conduct of the electoral process.
Wandai also particularly commended Governor Abdullahi Sule and Nasarawa State House of Assembly members for their support and leadership, which greatly facilitated the successful organization of the parliamentary polls.

All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates secured all 13 chairpersonships, 140 APC candidates out of 147 wards won city council elections, Social Democratic Party (SDP) won five posts and Zenith Labor Party (ZLP) ) won. claimed two.
