New FCT Police CP takes office, vows zero tolerance for crime

The new Police Commissioner of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), CP Olatunji Disu, has assumed charge of the FCT Command, warning that no crimes or criminal activities will be tolerated during his tenure.

Disu, the 32nd Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), said in his first press conference on Monday that he will continue where his predecessor, AIG Bennett Igwe, left off in addressing security challenges. He announced that he is ready. F.C.T.

He further warned those seeking to perpetuate crimes in the FCT to desist, assuring them that the security of lives and property within the FCT will not be jeopardized.

According to him, “As I assume this role, I am acutely aware of the security challenges facing the FCT and the foundational efforts built by my predecessors to maintain relative peace. I am fully committed to building on this foundation and intensifying efforts to significantly improve the security situation on the territory of our country.

“I send a clear and firm message to those who seek to disturb peace in the FCT. My term in office will be marked by a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of crime and criminal activity. We are unwavering in our commitment to protecting our communities by ensuring that law enforcement is effective and respects the rights of all citizens.

“We also aim to strengthen our partnerships with local organizations, community leaders and other stakeholders. Together we foster trust and innovate to address safety concerns impacting residents.” Your insights and feedback will be invaluable as we navigate these challenges together, and we look forward to hearing from the public to improve our approach. A former Rivers State CP said of the priority areas: “We will strengthen our community policing efforts to ensure officers are more visible and accessible, creating a sense of safety and trust among residents.”

“We will strengthen our intelligence gathering capabilities, which are critical to preemptively addressing potential threats and criminal activity. We will also leverage the latest technology to support law enforcement operations, provide data analysis and Leverage tools such as monitoring systems to improve operational efficiency and response times.”
