Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has reaffirmed Abuja’s continued role as the center of the country’s diverse cultures, ethnicities and traditions, adding that this diversity is its strength. In a statement commemorating Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, released and signed by him in Abuja on Tuesday, Mr Wike congratulated President Bola Tinubu. He commended the President for taking bold and necessary steps aimed at promoting the growth and development of Nigeria as a united and resilient nation.
Wike encouraged residents to reflect on the sacrifices of Nigeria’s founding fathers whose vision and determination laid the foundations of the nation. “Their commitment to building a united and prosperous Nigeria continues to guide our journey. We honor their legacy by upholding the values of unity, peace and collective progress. “It has to be represented,” he said.
“As residents of the Federal Capital Territory, we occupy a unique location in the heart of the country.As the seat of government, Abuja is home to a rich diversity of cultures, ethnicities and traditions that coexist harmoniously. , it symbolizes the unity of all Nigerians. This blend is not only a source of strength but also a symbol of hope for a brighter future,” the minister said.
Mr. Wike reflected on the current challenges facing the country, including economic, security and social issues, and highlighted the important role of Abuja as the capital in leading the country’s efforts to overcome these obstacles. . “We must show resilience and take the lead in building the Nigeria of our dreams,” he said.
He called on all residents to embrace the spirit of Independence Day and take personal and collective responsibility for the development of their communities. “Let us unite to support security efforts, promote peace, protect the environment and be the guardians of our brothers,” he urged.
Mr Wike reiterated the FCT administration’s commitment to promoting national unity and progress in line with the “New Hope” agenda. “Abuja is at the forefront of these efforts and we will continue to ensure that our city remains a symbol of hope, a center of opportunity and a place of peace for all Nigerians.”
Mr. Wike also used the occasion to pay tribute to the sacrifices of the Nigerian security forces who have worked tirelessly to ensure the safety of the population.
