highlights
• Floods killed more than 300 people and affected 1.2 million people in 31 states in Nigeria.
• According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), cholera has claimed more than 350 lives and more than 10,000 suspected cases have been recorded in Nigeria since January.
• Preliminary results of the Rapid Collaborative Flood Multi-Sectoral Needs Analysis (MSNA) led by the Borno State Government (BSG) indicate the urgent need for food and non-food items (NFI) in emergency shelters in Maiduguri.
• One of the major concerns for flood-affected people in Borno State is clean water, sanitation, health care, and protection.
• Flash floods continue in Damasak and Dikwa Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Borno State.
• Water levels in the Benue and Niger rivers remain at alert levels in Makurdi and Lokoja in Kogi state.
• Nigeria’s Senate calls for a Marshall Plan to combat flooding.
