Nigeria has established the Fourth Industrial Revolution Technology Project in Agriculture, a collaboration between the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) and the National Information Technology Development Authority (NITDA).
The partnership aims to leverage technologies such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), data analytics, and robotics to improve agricultural productivity and sustainability across the country. The purpose is
“This collaboration will identify, demonstrate and mainstream market-ready innovations that will transform Nigeria’s agriculture sector through technology,” said NITDA Executive Director Kashif Inuwa Abdullahi. Ta.
“Our aim is to encourage and stimulate the use of technology, especially Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies such as UAVs, IoT, AI and blockchain, to optimize different sectors of the economy.”
He continued: “This partnership is driven by President Tinubu’s vision to harness the power of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies to dramatically increase agricultural productivity and sustainability.” Ta.
Mohammed Abu Ibrahim, NADF Director-General and CEO, highlighted the important link between agriculture and technology.
Ibrahim said the main goals of the partnership are to increase agricultural production, improve food security, promote economic growth, and stimulate economic development through agricultural innovation and job creation.
