Omokri says Nigeria is making progress under Tinubu
He cited the recent killings of several notorious bandit leaders in the northwest and Nigeria’s terrorism index, which has fallen to less than 7 percent from 8 percent a few years ago, as evidence of improved security.
Mr. Omokri also highlighted that Nigeria’s trade surplus in the first and second quarters of 2024 reached a combined N14 trillion, saying this feat was a commendable outcome of ongoing reforms. .
“One of the reasons we’ve been able to have two consecutive quarters of trade surplus for the first time is because we’re exporting more than we’re importing. So the national security implications, what they’re doing on our borders. “Because of this, our country has a trade surplus,” he said.
He reiterated his support for eliminating gasoline subsidies, noting that the president’s opponents in the 2023 election have also promised similar measures.
He called on Nigerians to be patient and support the government irrespective of political affiliation.
So far, we have borrowed and borrowed. Previous administrations have not had the courage to do what this administration has done, which is to end fuel subsidies. To maintain fuel subsidies, we have to borrow, and if we continue to borrow, future governments, future generations will pay for that, and that’s what we’re experiencing now.
“Right now, we are like Vietnam, the currency is stabilizing, more goods are being manufactured in Nigeria. Gradually it will affect you and me. So I ask you to be patient. ” he said. .
