Nigerian Army wins 2024 Armed Forces Games

According to a report by BSNSports.com.ng, the Nigerian Army was crowned the winner of the 2024 Armed Forces Games held at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna State.
The Nigerian Army won a total of 264 medals, including 172 gold, 60 silver and 32 bronze. The Nigerian Air Force came second with a total of 129 medals (33 gold, 103 silver and 187 bronze) while the Nigerian Navy came third with 18 gold, 43 silver and 129 bronze. The Acting Director of Physical Education of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Abdulraheem Bello, has dedicated the successes recorded at the Armed Forces Games to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taored Lagbaha, for his immense contribution and support to the sport. Brigadier Bello disclosed that Nigerian military personnel have always dominated the national teams of the various sports federations, adding that the results were a testament to the support of the military. He said: “Winning the 2024 Armed Forces Games is a demonstration of the support of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taorade Lagbaja, for sport in Nigeria.” The difference between the number of gold medals and second place is 139. Since the appointment of Lieutenant General Taolid Lagbaha, the Nigerian Army has competed in all national championships including boxing, judo, taekwondo, shooting, track and field, handball and volleyball. “This result will encourage the Army to continue investing in athletes across different sports as we have the potential to make Nigeria proud at the African Games, Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games in the near future. Brigadier General Bello charged the men to be good ambassadors of the Nigerian Army and continue to excel in various sports.
