Nigerians in the Philippines recently celebrated the 64th Nigerian Independence Day in Pasay City, Metro Manila.
The event was hosted by the Philippine Diaspora Organization of Nigeria and the Nigerian Embassy to showcase Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.
In his speech, the Charge d’Affaires of the Nigerian Embassy, Olohe Adesina, commended Nigerians in the Philippines for representing the country well and urged them to always remain good ambassadors for the country and Africa as a whole.
Mr. Adesina also joined the newly appointed leadership of NIDO, led by Chairman Tony Marioge.
In his inaugural address, Marioge appealed to Nigerians in the Philippines not to succumb to defeat or despair, and urged them to boldly face challenges with a winning mindset.
He also charged them to embrace correct moral principles and values and strive to achieve impossible feats through honor, vision and unity of purpose.
