The Nigerian government has assured the people that continued efforts to strengthen electricity generation and distribution will soon lead to lower electricity prices. This commitment was made by the Minister of Power, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, during a meeting in Abuja with the Executive Director of the National Lottery Trust Fund, Mr. Tosin Adeyanju and his team.
Mr Adelabu stressed that despite the perception that electricity costs are high, electricity prices in Nigeria remain among the lowest in Africa compared to neighboring countries such as Togo, Mali and the Republic of Niger. However, he acknowledged that low income levels in Nigeria make electricity bills a burden for many consumers.
“Given today’s commodity prices, it is much cheaper to use electricity than to run a generator using gasoline or diesel,” Adelabu said, adding that as the country ramps up power generation and distribution, tariffs will come down. He emphasized that it was necessary. Possible.

There are institutions that are promoting this renewable power project,” he said, referring to the efforts of the Rural Electrification Authority (REA).
Regarding global energy challenges, Mr. Adelabu said, “Today, all over the world, we face two fundamental problems: food and energy security. The impact of the war between Russia and Ukraine. This shows that gas prices are rising worldwide.
“But we have to commit to providing electricity to people in rural areas, especially the youth. Even those who have mastered the technology have abandoned it and now they You can see that he is riding Okada.”
Mr Adelabu also reassured Nigerians of President Tinubu’s commitment to youth and rural development and appealed to the people to be patient as the government works towards improving living conditions.

Mr. Adeyanju also commended Minister Adelabu for his transformative efforts in the power sector, saying that Nigeria’s electricity supply has improved significantly since he took office. “We have restored confidence in the power sector and Nigerians are noticing positive changes,” he added.
