The new leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State, Adam Bakoninga, has promised to unseat the state’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), in 2027.
Mr. Adamu Nyinga said this on Monday when he took the oath of office at the party secretariat managed by Barrister Muhammed Danjuma, Jos Road, Lafia, Nasarawa State.
He promised to unite the party in the state. He said that although there are problems with the main opposition party, he will work with the leaders as a family member to reach out to party members who are concerned about reconciliation.
“PDP may have its challenges, but we are a family. My mission is to reconcile with all members, including those who feel offended, and to show that we can unite towards a common goal. ” he said.
The PDP chairman explained that the people of Nasarawa are suffering from the misgovernance of the APC at the federal and state levels.
According to him, there is a need to liberate the Nasarawa people. He said that although the PDP may not be in power, it will come up with a strategy to save the people.
“Power ultimately comes from God, and while we may not be able to hold it at this moment, we must focus on a carefully planned strategy. Our purpose is , to liberate the people who have suffered for nine years under this regime,” Nyinga said.
He promised to provide good governance within the party by involving all executive members in decision-making.
“I intend to provide good governance within the party and ensure that all party members, especially my senior leadership, participate in decisions and initiatives.
“I am confident that with the experience I have gained working with past chairmen, I will be able to lead the PDP towards victory in 2027,” Daily Sun quoted him as saying.
