The Vice President of the Senate, Senator Balau Jibrin, has said that the wave of defections from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) clearly indicates the 2027 political direction in Kano State. Ta.
Speaking at the weekend, Senator Jibrin welcomed a group of NNPP MPs from the constituency of the party’s former presidential candidate and national leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and the state’s governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The defection was led by Yahaya Saidu Kwankwaso, a former councilor for Kwankwaso Ward in Madobi Local Government, and Hayahaya Saidu Kwankwaso. Mr. Abdulhamid Ahmad Diso is a former deputy chairman of Gwale Local Council alongside Mr. Ahmad Diso. Shu’aibu Isa Kubaraci and his supporters.
Moreover, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Garba Alhassan Dawaki, spearheaded the defection of former legislators and PDP members from Dawakin Kudu State LGA to APC.
According to Ismail Mudashir, the media adviser to Senator Balau, the defectors cited the senator’s achievements in development in Kano state as their main motivation for joining the APC.
While welcoming the new members, Senator Balau assured them of fair treatment and equal opportunities within the party, stressing that APC is an inclusive platform where everyone has a chance to grow.
“The mass defection of NNPP members to APC is an indication of what lies ahead in 2027,” he said.
“As it stands, the NNPP is no longer relevant in northern Kano. In southern Kano, the APC will soon take over the remnants of the NNPP, but it is currently limited to a few streets in central Kano.”
Senator Barau also pledged to work with the new members to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda to accelerate the development of Kano State and promote progress and prosperity nationwide.
