(Bloomberg) — South Africa marked its 200th day without constant electricity supply since state-owned power company Eskom Holdings SOC halted rolling blackouts known as load shedding on March 26.
The uninterrupted supply is the result of business recovery plans, which have reduced unplanned outages by around 8.6%, Eskom said in a statement on Sunday. Energy availability also improved by 7.7%.
Eskom CEO Dan Malokane said: “This is an important milestone in ensuring energy security and attracting investment to South Africa as we prepare for a competitive electricity market.” .
The utility also plans to achieve 206 days without outages since Oct. 18, the longest period since October 2019, he said.
