Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan, has said the North-Central region will produce the next national chairman of the party.
Ologbondiyan said that according to the party constitution, no other region could produce the national chairman of the party.
He said this while hosting PDP youths from North Central in Abuja at the weekend.
The PDP leader explained that Article 47, Section 6 of the party constitution is clear and no one can stop its implementation.
“Party members and stakeholders in the six geopolitical zones of the country, particularly the northeastern states including Taraba, Gombe, Bauchi, Yobe, Adamawa and Borno states, supported the nomination of his predecessor to succeed him. It’s no secret that North Central is replacing Senator Ayu, and the zone is already tweaking the process to achieve that goal.
“Please ignore the antics of some party members who are rebelling against the party constitution and making up rules on a whim.
“The standard of the PDP is the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017) and not the aspirations of any individual, irrespective of the position occupied by such individual,” Ologbondiyan said.
He added that individuals and groups who try to subvert the party’s constitution will cause chaos in the party.
“North Central, and not other zones, will produce a successor to Senator Ayu. Individuals and groups who wish to prevent the implementation of Article 47(6) of the PDP Constitution (as amended) should seek the interests of our party. “We have not done so,” the leadership said.
