Okra launches Nebula: Africa’s homegrown cloud for localized data and innovation

[ad_1]

Fara Ashiru, Founder and CEO of Okra, announced on Linkedin the launch of Nebula, a cloud infrastructure designed specifically for Africa. In a post on LinkedIn, Ashiru emphasized the importance of moving away from dependence on expensive imported software and services and creating localized solutions that meet Africa’s unique needs. Nebula will deliver the same high-quality performance as international giants like AWS and Azure, but with distinct benefits tailored for the African market.

Nebula offers a variety of innovative features, including the ability to pay in local currencies such as Naira, eliminating the unpredictability of exchange rates. It also has low latency with Tier 3/4 data centers, ensuring reliable and high-speed services that meet global standards. Importantly, the platform is built with Africa’s regulatory landscape in mind, providing strong data compliance and security for businesses across Africa.

Financial infrastructure pioneer Okra has already integrated its systems with Nebula, with the first round of access granted to selected partners. The next available round is expected to begin soon and will mark a major step forward in Africa’s digital transformation.

Okra’s move reflects a growing trend of African technology companies developing solutions that prioritize local needs while remaining globally competitive. By creating Nebula, Okra is giving African businesses the tools to innovate, grow, and compete on the global stage while maintaining control over costs, data, and compliance.
