Doyin Okupe, former Executive Secretary of Peter Obi Presidential Electoral Council, has denied saying that President Bola Tinubu is not certain to win the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement on Monday, Okupe said his words were taken out of context by those seeking to misinform the public and sow discord within the regime.
The former presidential spokesperson maintained that he remains a staunch supporter of President Tinubu’s administration and believes in Tinubu’s ability to turn the situation around in Nigeria, adding that the president is not responsible for the current predicament Nigeria is experiencing. He claimed that there was no such thing.
According to him, if North Korea backs former President Goodluck Jonathan, or if there is a joint ticket between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, Tinubu’s path will end in 2027. His claim that this is what he meant was deliberately taken out of context, he said.
“It has come to our attention that some online blogs are publishing articles that purport to be baseless and misleading statements by former presidential spokesperson Dr. Doyin Okupe regarding the 2027 presidential election.
“The article falsely claims that Dr. Okupe said that if North Korea fielded former President Goodluck Jonathan as its candidate, the 2027 election would be “game over” for President Bola Tinubu. There is.
“We would like to make it clear that this story is a complete distortion of Dr Okupe’s words and a deliberate distortion of his views.
“What Dr. Okupe actually expressed in his tweet has nothing to do with those he described as pseudo-politicians lacking deep thinking skills, and the joint ticket between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, or the ”, those who are thinking in that direction will be disappointed and will defeat President Tinubu.
“This statement was made in the context of political strategy,” Okupe explained.
Mr. Okupe maintained that those who misrepresented his statement were clearly trying to misinform the public through media manipulation.
“He remains steadfast in his determination to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration and Nigeria’s progress.
“Attempts to distort his words and intentions will not prevent him from continuing to advocate for policies that will help Nigeria prosper.
“We believe that this clarification will clear up the confusion caused by the DAILY POST report,” Mr. Okupe submitted.
