The All Progressives Congress (APC) said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has shown deep dissatisfaction and unpreparedness for the governorship election scheduled for Saturday.
The party stated this while reacting to PDP’s claims that rigging of the governorship election was being planned.
Addressing reporters in Okitipupa on Wednesday, APC Electoral Council Spokesperson, Banji Okunomo, said no matter how many shenanigans the PDP plays, it loses focus on ensuring the success of its candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa. He insisted that there was no such thing.
Mr. Okunomo noted that while the “serious” APC was busy campaigning in every corner of the state, the opposition PDP was busy making baseless accusations.
“Rather than campaigning, they continue to make baseless accusations of a plot to rig elections,” he said.
“If there was such a plan, why would the APC embark on such a rigorous and aggressive campaign as it has undertaken in the past few weeks?”
“APC wishes to assure you that it has no plans to compromise the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as they are committed to following the electoral process.
“We have already undertaken massive mobilization during the election campaign and we have no intention of weakening this process, knowing full well that Aidatiwa will move towards victory.”
The spokesperson said Mr Ayedatiwa was confident that he had been able to win over voters over the past 10 months based on his humanistic approach to governance and reiterated his commitment to reliable polling. Ta.
“The APC has no need to compromise the process or the electoral umpire to win Saturday’s election because it is popular and its candidates are widely accepted by all.”
“To say the least, APC ran the best political campaign in the history of the state with its election train visiting all the 18 local governments including remote areas of the state.
“In each place we visited, people have expressed their happiness for Mr. Aedatiwa and we are confident that they will vote for him on Saturday as an affirmation of their love for him and the APC,” he said. added.
Mr. Okunomo appealed to the PDP to focus on rebuilding the party and walk the path of honor, noting that some political gladiators left the party in the aftermath of the gubernatorial primary.
