AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department reported a significant decrease in crime at this year’s Austin City Limits Music Festival thanks to early cooperation between law enforcement and festival organizers.
Police arrested three people and responded to 373 calls at Zilker Park over both weekends. Officers documented a total of 125 crime reports, including 77 theft incidents, most of which were related to mobile phones.
The first weekend saw two arrests, one fleeing on foot and another on a warrant, 225 citations and 70 violations. During the second weekend, police arrested one person for assault causing bodily harm, responded to 148 citations, and received 55 criminal complaints. A total of 33 thefts were reported, 23 of which were mobile phones.

“These numbers are significantly down compared to past years,” APD officials said in a statement. The ministry attributed this decline to intensive preparations to address previous problems such as theft and overdoses.
