Veteran Nollywood actor Patrick Doyle has criticized Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, over his outfit at the palace of Wari Olu, Ogiam Atuwatse III.

Davido paid a courtesy visit to Olu along with prominent Nigerian personalities such as Amaju Pinnick, Fino, Chief Priest Cubana, AY Makun, before performing at the “Woli Again” concert in Delta State last weekend. Ta.

The singer posed for a photo with the monarch and former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Pinnick in a white T-shirt and brown pants, sparking criticism among some fans.

Mr Doyle, from the Delta, took to Facebook to question Mr Davido’s attire, saying it was “inappropriate” for a royal visit.

“Is this attire appropriate for visiting the palace of a king like Oru in Wari?” the 63-year-old actor asked.

His post sparked mixed reactions, with some defending Davido’s casual attire while others agreed that it showed disrespect towards the monarch.

Leadership recalls that in October 2023, Pinnick filed a lawsuit at the High Court in Efurun, Delta State, against Davido and his music label, Davido Music Worldwide (DMW).

The lawsuit accused Davido of breaching his contract by not appearing at the 19th Wali Again concert despite receiving the payment he had requested.

Pinnick said Davido received $94,600 to appear at the event, adding that Wali chartered a plane to transport the singer, costing the state an additional $18,000.

In response, David filed a N2.3 billion lawsuit against Pinnick, but the parties later agreed to settle the matter out of court in March, as confirmed by the Delta State High Court.
