The internal crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has intensified, with a wing of the National Working Committee (NWC) announcing the appointment of the party’s finance secretary, Yayari Ahmed, as acting national chairman.
Naija News reported that the decision follows the recent suspension of Amb. Umar Damagum has ended his role as Acting National Chairman.
In an official statement issued in Abuja on Friday, His Excellency said: PDP National Secretary, Mr. Debo Ologunagba, outlined the details of the development.
The statement read: Mr. Ilya Damagumu as Acting National Chairman of our great party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the National Working Committee (NWC) appoints Alhaji Yayari Ahmed Mohammed as Acting National Chairman approved to do so.
“The appointment with immediate effect is based on the provisions of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017).
