PDP elects new chairman and other executives of Nasarawa

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State has appointed its former secretary, Mr Adamu Bako, as its new leader.
Naija News understands that the new party leader was elected at the assembly held on Tuesday in Lafia, the state capital.

Senator Simon Mwadokwon, who headed the PDP national committee that oversees the parliament, declared Bako the winner and praised the transparency of the electoral process.

Besides Mr. Bako, several other officials were elected including Mr. Cephas Danlami as Secretary, Mr. Yahaya Bunu as Treasurer and Mr. Chinenege Muhammad as State Publicity Secretary.

Hannathu John was elected state women’s leader, Bala Aaron was appointed state general counsel, and Awes Abdullahi was appointed state auditor.

The vice-chairmen of the three senatorial districts in the state are Marcin Shema (North), Isa Bala Mangi (South) and Attahiru Osu Audu (West).

In his first speech, Bako promised to solve problems and increase the party’s influence across the state.

PDP candidate for the 2023 governorship election, Mr David Ombugadu, commended the council for its fair execution.

In other news, New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Founder and Life Member of the Board of Trustees (BoT), Dr. Boniface Anibonam, on Tuesday convened the party’s Board of Trustees meeting on November 8, 2024 Then he announced. Discuss recent court decisions requiring the board of directors to manage the management of the party.

The decision follows the judgment of the Abia High Court which directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to transfer the management and administration of the NNPP to the BoT in Annie Bonham.

The court’s decision is said to be a significant shift in the party’s leadership, with the party’s founder Mr Anibonam and his team officially appointed in charge of strategic decisions.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, Anibonam, who is also the founder of the National Association of Government Accredited Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), expressed the board’s intention to comply with the court’s “compelling order”.

He emphasized the importance of the upcoming conference in shaping the future direction of the NNPP and ensuring compliance with the court’s judgment.
