Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have called on the party’s national working committee to convene a meeting of the party’s national executive committee by the first week of February at the latest.
Naija News has reported that the NWC continues to postpone the NEC, discussing some of the issues plaguing the party and effectively seeking to succeed Mr. Umaru Damagumu and complete the term of the suspended Mr. Iyoluchia Ayu. I remember that he was planning to present the national chairman of the party.
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who is also the chairman of the forum, said in a communiqué read to reporters on Saturday that the meeting would allow for thorough consultations with key stakeholders in the party.
He said: “The forum points out the concerns of Nigerians, the founding fathers of the PDP, our elders and what appears to be an internal division among our great party members.
“The Forum wishes to state unequivocally that it remains steadfast in its resolve to ensure the unity and unity of this great party that Nigerians have come to rely on as the best foundation for democratic governance. .
“The Forum sympathizes with our colleague, Governor Umo Eno, and acknowledges the latest postponement of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party, with the burial of the late beloved wife of the NEC scheduled for the same day. I have no choice but to accept it.
“The Forum strongly advises the NWC to call the NEC by the first week of February 2025 at the latest to allow for careful consultation with the party’s key stakeholders. From November onwards. The period leading up to February will address the survival issues facing the party, with a planned schedule of activities within the period under consideration to address leadership and litigation issues facing the party. ”
Mr. Mohammed also said the forum sympathized with Nigerians “groaning under the oppressive economic hardships imposed on the country by the policies and decisions of the APC-led Federal Government.”
Mr. Muhammad also called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently review macroeconomic and fiscal policies that address the welfare and well-being of Nigerians.
The forum further added that “all PDP governors will continue to aggressively pursue policies and programs that will alleviate hardship and ensure progress and development.”
They also lamented the Edo and Ondo governorship elections won by the APC and called on the judiciary to save democracy in the country.
