Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Olologbondiyan, has claimed that the party is in a coma.
However, Ologbondiyan in an interview with Vanguard maintained that the PDP is not dead despite the leadership crisis rocking the party.
Asked if the party was over, the PDP leader said, “Not really.” The issue we are talking about today is that the party is in a coma, but it is not dead. Therefore, the problem of a requiem mass does not arise as some commentators have suggested.
“However, as the main opposition party, which had hoped that this miscarriage of justice would jeopardize the administration, I must say that the party has become cold and powerless to fulfill its functions.
“People in the current leadership of our party will say, oh, they’ve been running Congress conveniently ignoring the fact that the majority result of the Congress is currently the subject of litigation in various courts.
“They will also say that they are selling papers for regional meetings, but all this is a game that many party members are no longer interested in because they know the direction the party is going.
“So, if someone says that our party is dead, I would say to such a person that our party is not dead, but it needs to be recalibrated. From its current coma. It needs to be revived.”
