Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Olorogbondiyan, said the party was not in coalition talks with other political parties.
The PDP leader revealed that political officials within the party are discussing the possibility of forming a coalition, but the party is not making any moves to merge with any political party.
Ologobondiyan said this in an interview with Channels TV on Friday.
“As a political party, I don’t think the NDP is in talks with any political party as a political party. Based on my own research, I don’t think so. But I also think it’s important to understand the need to unite in the political space. I also know that it doesn’t limit the fact that there are parties arguing with each other about, or let me say, I’m not involved in anything, but the discussions in the political environment make it happen. “I think it’s true,” he said.
When asked if the PDP might oust the current All Progressives Congress (APC) government or consider the option of merger later, a former PDP spokesperson said the party was yet to consider that possibility. He said he is considering it.
“Well, what I defined is that politicians, or people in the political class, are talking about the need to build a strong platform that can break the tide.
“As I have already said, whether the PDP will be able to oust the government of President Bola Tinubu on its own is a matter of contemplation. The journey begins with a single step,” Ologbondiyan added.
