Leaders of the Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have called on their members to unite and speak with one voice in the run-up to the 2027 general elections.
Leaders who spoke at a stakeholder meeting organized by Diadem, a group of technocrats within the PDP, stressed the need for unity to restore the party’s strength in Lagos.
The event, held in Ifako-Ijaye LGA, celebrated Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day and focused on mobilizing 100,000 “organized members” to the party.
The rally, titled “Ideological Democracy Against Accommodative and Deceptive Politics,” was the first of its kind by a political group in the LGA, according to organizer and aviation expert Dayo Kayode. It was something.
Kayode stressed that the party must prioritize unity, putting aside personal interests to strengthen the PDP in Lagos. “As we approach 2027, we must come together and speak with one voice,” he said.
Kayode further explained that the event was aimed at celebrating Nigeria’s independence and rallying support for the PDP across Lagos constituencies, adding that the group intends to enroll 100,000 new members. pointed out.
Keynote speaker Bolaji Akinyemi highlighted issues hindering Nigeria’s progress, including corruption, weak leadership and electoral fraud.
Mr. Akinyemi called for systemic change and recommended a return to Nigeria’s 1963 Republican Constitution as a solution, saying it is the only foundational document that reflects the will of “the people.”
The PDP Chairman of Ifako-Ijaye Local Assembly, Mufutau Oyelekan, Alimosho, Isiaka Shodiya echoed the call for unity and urged Nigerians to consider PDP in 2027. “We need people who want to vote based on their conscience, not their money,” Shodiya stressed.
At the end of the event, the PDP leaders reaffirmed their determination to mobilize strong support across Lagos and strengthen the party’s base ahead of the next election cycle.
