Elderly politician and member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Board (BOT) Bode George, says that if urgent measures are not taken to deal with ongoing internal conflict, the party will fall into a leaderless crisis I warned that I could do it.
Naija News reports that George issued the warning Friday in an interview on Channel TV’s politics today, expressing concern over the party’s current direction.
Nigeria’s leading opposition, the PDP has been working on leadership battles and internal divisions, particularly after its defeat in the 2023 presidential election.
The crisis has led to the emergence of multiple factions, with allegations that the recent dispute over the position of state secretaries and the party leader’s rift further.
Former PDP vice-national president George warned that if the situation is not properly managed, the party could become a “rudderless ship” that cannot effectively navigate the course.
He states: “I appeal to everyone as an elder elected in the party’s first choice treaty in December 1999. This is not the time to use the party structure to throw people under the train. No, I am. disagree because we have to be careful when you look at the list of names of people who are about to take this disciplinary action right now. They say when you become fair. You have to come with beautiful hands.
“There are still people in the party. Elders who can solve and solve this crisis. They have surpassed the initial hurdle. Beauty is that they still have a responsibility to ensure justice, fairness and equity. I want to plead them. Don’t start dropping the ship. The ship is already in a storm. If we don’t pay attention, we will be a ship without a rudder. A ship without a rudder will fall Masu.”
George supports PDP Bot’s decision to recognize Ude-Okoye
In related developments, George supported the PDP Bot’s decision on Sunday to recognize Udeokoi as the party’s real state chief.
He said his decision was based on a court of appeals decision.
He said, “The fact that they brought it, I’m totally on it. What do you think the elders will do? This report, with the exception of those from Okoye, is a counter at the Court of Appeals. It made it clear that there was no coat.
“So, what do you expect us to do? If Anyanwu decides to go to the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court repeals the decision of the appeal court, we will adhere to it. .”
