Congressman Obi Aguocha has reaffirmed his belief in the ideology of 2023 Labor Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi and Abia State Governor Alex Otti.
In an interview with The New Telegraph, Mr Aguocha insisted he had no intention of leaving the Labor Party and expressed his full confidence in the party.
However, he noted that Peter Obi is free to talk to anyone about joining the Labor Party to oust the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government in 2027.
“He (Peter Obi) has the right to talk to as many people as he wants in order to tempt the Labor Party to come and wrest power from the government of the day and reset Nigeria,” Aguocha said. Ta.
The lawmaker maintained that APC members were dissatisfied but insisted that they needed to form a coalition government to defeat the ruling party in the next general election.
He said: “Ideologically I am aligned and connected with Peter Obi and Alex Otti and the Labor Party platform. We are now a political platform.
“We are interested in wresting power from the APC so that we can restore hope to Nigerians, ensure adequate security and ensure that the people wake up.
“The defection of five party members will neither diminish nor rise to the point where the Labor Party ceases to be a beacon of hope for Nigerians.
“No one is happy. Even APC officials are not happy with the current situation in Nigeria.
“So if we have to form a coalition to ensure that we have the right provisions in place, why not do that, after all, the APC was a coalition that subscribed to the ideology of usurping power from the PDP.
“So I don’t think it would be unusual if the Labor Party decided to do the right thing for once in Nigeria and unite with other like-minded Nigerians.”
