Labor Party chairman Julius Habre has said he is ready to resolve all issues with his party’s former presidential candidate Peter Obi.
Naija News reports that Abre said he believed that Obi and Abia State Governor Alex Otti were working for the betterment of the party.
He stated this on Wednesday on the occasion of the first consultative meeting of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and political party leaderships in 2025.
The Labor Party’s national chairman insisted to the media that the misunderstandings were exaggerated and should be seen as a family matter that should be resolved amicably within the family.
He praised both the High Court and the Court of Appeal for ruling in favor of the Labor leader.
He promised to reconcile all disgruntled party members and restructure the party for future elections.
“First of all, I would like to thank the Court of Appeal for dispensing justice, considering the entire matter and generally resolving it in our favor in line with the laws of the country, the Nigerian Constitution, the Electoral Act and the party constitution.
“Therefore, we would like to thank the judges of the Court of Appeal. We would also like to thank the judges of the High Court who previously ruled in favor of the party leadership.
“What I’m essentially saying is that disputes within the party should be a family affair, and I think so. For me, there are no hard feelings. As I said before, For all those who have any grievances with the party leadership, this is an opportunity for us all to come together, reconcile our differences, and chart a path forward for the party.
“For me, I am positive about reconciliation and the party will do everything in its power to bring everyone in the party together to discuss and plan the future direction of the party. “I therefore appeal to all aggrieved party members to come back in the interest of the party and in the interest of Nigeria,” he said.
Addressing the relationship between the former Anambra and Abia State governors over the internal crisis in the party, Mr. Abure said the differences would be resolved soon.
“I believe that very soon all our differences will be put aside and we will once again speak with one voice with authority and be a stronger and much more effective presence in the political arena. I’m sure.
“There are no political parties without some differences. It’s a game of interests and there will always be conflicts of interest in any political environment. I believe we can be better and stronger.
“Now we can see our strengths, but we can also see our weaknesses. All these things taken together will help us rebuild the party, make it better, and perform better in future elections.” I am confident,” he added.
