Pixies, July 18th and 19th

The coming year 2025 is set to be the year of the pixie. This is crazy because for us here in Massachusetts, every year since 1988 has been the Year of the Pixie. But this iconic and influential indie band released a new album called The Night the Zombies Came last week, just in time to scream Halloween, and will be releasing a new album next summer at MGM Music at Boston’s Fenway. We are planning to go on a tour where two people will be delivered to the hall. On the nights of July 18th and 19th, each night will have its own unique atmosphere. On night one, the Pixies will perform their fan-favorite albums Bossa Nova and Trompe Monde in full. Meanwhile, night two promises a mix of classics from across their famous and often imitated catalogue, including songs from their new album. It should be a special homecoming doubleheader. The Night the Zombies Came is, as pixiesmerch.com suggests, the band’s 10th album overall, including 1987’s classic 4AD mini-LP Come On Pilgrim, and 2022’s Doggerel This is the first new song since. The song was recorded at Guilford Sound Studios in Vermont with producer Tom Dalgetty and features new bassist Emma Richardson. Check out our recent article about the band giving Oasis some advice on reuniting, and listen to their new single “The Vegas Suite” below. Tickets go on sale Friday, November 1st at 10am local time.

Nathaniel Ratliff & The Night Sweat South of Here Tour, March 28th and 29th (2nd show added!)

We love a good flex. So when Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweat’s Stax/Fantasy/Concord label team put out a brief press release for their new single “Call Me (Whatever You Like)” last month, I couldn’t help but notice that streaming was included. Links, press photos, tour dates, and four excerpts. These quotes didn’t come from the press, radio, or blogs, they came from Howard Stern, Noah Kahan, Zach Bryan, and Robert Plant. That’s some powerful action. The spotlight track is a follow-up to their previous single “Heartless,” which you can listen to below, and both appear on the Americana band’s summer album “South Of Here.” Now, Rateliff and the guys have announced extended tour dates for this record, including shows at Boston’s MGM Music Hall at Fenway on March 28th and 29th (a second show has just been added!) It ends with. “We’ve dreamed of doing a show like this all our careers, and knowing it’s actually happening is a bigger feeling than any dream,” Rateliff says. “This tour would not have been possible without you all. We feel your love very deeply. Thank you for your continued support, see you again.” This is a quote. Tickets for the new dates will go on sale Friday, November 1st at 10am local time.
