Ondo State Governor, Lucky Ayedatiwa, has branded the claim of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Agboola Ajayi, that he received N1.2 billion as security vote in the state as a lie from the pit of hell. .
Mr Ayedatiwa, who is also the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the November 16 governorship election, said Mr Ajayi was just trying to play politics on his own terms.
The governor made this denial on Sunday during the Ondo State governorship election debate hosted by Channels Television and its partners.
Mr Ayedatiwa did not reveal how much he would receive as security votes, but said all government expenditure is controlled by the budget and details of Ondo State’s budget are available online.
“You are not just playing politics by coming here and letting the whole world know that someone is collecting N1.2 billion as security votes. That is a lie as hell,” he said.
He called on PDP candidates to obtain accurate information and stop misleading the public.
“The budget is published. It is online. It shows the allocation of safety votes and other expenditures, both capital and recurrent expenditures.
“What he is saying is not true. How can you say that I withdrew N1.2 billion during election week in Edo? Am I the one running for election? I am surprised that you cannot tell the truth. ” the governor added.
On the security situation in Ondo, Mr Ayedatiwa said the state is safe, adding that Ondo remains one of the safest states in the country.
“I can say that not only the people of Owo but also the people of Ondo State feel more secure now because after that attack, security is one of the responsibilities of government.
“We also brought forward initiatives that led to the creation of our own security network, Amotekun, as we believed that the traditional security of the time was not able to address the security challenges we faced in Ondo State,” he added. I did.
