The outgoing Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, extends the same cooperation and support to the people of Edo State to the incoming administration of the incoming Governor, Senator Monday Okpeboro, as has been accorded to his administration. I called on them to do so.
Mr. Obaseki made this call during the Thanksgiving Day and inauguration of the newly renovated Government House Chapel.
Addressing the congregation, Mr. Obaseki thanked the people of Edo for their continued support during his tenure, stressing the importance of continuity in the progress of the nation.
“I am leaving as governor, but I am not leaving Edo State,” he assured the audience, hinting at his future commitment to the state and its development.
Governor Obaseki’s term of office has come to an end and he is expected to make way for Mr. Okpeboro, who will take office soon.
Mr. Obaseki also called on residents to cooperate closely with the incoming administration during prayers.
“As the Governor and Father of the Nation, I am called upon to discharge my duties and, dear Heavenly Father, we come before You with gratitude and pray for the blessing and development of Edo State. Thank you.”
“As we transition to a new administration, I urge each of you, in the name of God, to extend your level of cooperation and support to my administration to the incoming administration.
“Let us continue to work together towards a bright future for Edo State and Nigeria. We are a country like no other.”
He said the chapel to be consecrated will be a testament and enduring spirit of the good that will be achieved in the people of Edo and the country.
While acknowledging and appreciating God’s support and provision during his eight years in office, he also appreciated the prayers and dedication of the people for the development of Edo.
“To the people of Edo State, I would like to thank you for your partnership and cooperation during my tenure. Your trust, encouragement and passion have delivered impactful projects and processes that have transformed the state. “It ignited our passion,” he said.
