Former Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria, VON, Osita Okechukwu, has said that leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should thank God for having escaped investigation by successive All Progressives Congress (APC) governments.
Naija News reports that APC leader Okechukwu made the remark in reaction to the PDP’s notice of resignation to the APC following the opposition party’s victory in Ghana’s presidential election.
Spokesperson of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba, said that in 2027, Nigerians will end the repressive rule of the APC and build on the PDP platform to move Nigeria on a path to good governance, security, political stability and economic prosperity. He said he would return it.
In response, Okechukwu in a statement to reporters on Tuesday said that former President Muhammadu Buhari and President Bola Tinubu, out of pure political responsibility, blamed the opposition for 16 years of haphazardness and wasteful spending. He said the PDP should thank God for refusing to pursue the case. party.
He said the country had experienced corruption, blatant election fraud, the unconscionable sale of legislative and ministerial seats, and impunity, among other things.
He said: “Corruption has dominated the privatization of the electricity value chain, which is key to industrialization.
“The blatant rigging of the 2007 general elections. The biggest beneficiary, President Umaru Musa Yardua, out of conscience and noble magnanimity, publicly acknowledged the fraud that marked his victory.
“The unconscionable sale of legislative and ministerial districts, the rent of which eats into our national treasury every year.
“The neglect of $23 billion in greenfield refineries could have saved more than $70 billion spent on imported refined petroleum products and simulated today’s economic hardships.”
Mr. Okechukwu recalled the Buhari administration’s efforts to restart talks on the greenfield refinery, which the Chinese side unfortunately rejected.
He added that the PDP should not insult the decency of Nigerians or assume that Nigerians are unaware of the harm being done in the country.
He added: “We cannot forget in a hurry that we deliberately violated the convention of rotating presidents from north to south and also completely ignored Article 7 of the PDP Constitution, which explicitly mandated zoning. ” he added.
“PDP should not insult the sensibilities of Nigerians by labeling them as fools who easily forget what they have put us at.
“Rather, we should thank Almighty God that Mr. Buhari and Mr. Tinubu did not want to go after them and that is why Nigerians cannot decipher the difference between the two political parties.”
