The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Senator Adolphus Wabara, has called for peace and a return to status quo between feuding members of the National Working Committee (NWC).
Naija News reports that the central bank chairman disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday.

While expressing concern over the ongoing domestic crisis, Wahara urged all parties involved to de-escalate tensions for the sake of party unity.

“The BoT calls on all sides of the NWC to sheathe their swords and return to the status quo in order to maintain the unity and stability of our great party,” he said.

The BoT Chairman stressed that differences of opinion are natural but should not undermine the PDP’s tradition of intra-party democracy.

Mr Wabara also assured members that the BoT will work with the NWC to facilitate reconciliation and restore normalcy.

He added: “We remain committed to promoting peace, unity and progress within the PDP and call on all party members and supporters to remain calm as we resolve these issues.” added.

A faction of the PDP loyal to Acting National Chairman Umaru Damagum announced in a statement on Friday morning the suspension of the National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Debo Ologunagba, and the National Legal Adviser, Mr. Kamaludeen Ajibade (SAN).

This was disclosed by the PDP National Public Relations Director, Chinwe Norom, in a statement released early on Friday morning.

Norom explained that in accordance with the party’s constitution, the party had set up a committee headed by party vice-president (southern) Taofik Alapaja to investigate the concerns raised against the leaders.

However, the Ajibade-led faction reacted immediately, suspending Damagum and national secretary Samuel Anyanwu for alleged loyalty to the party.

Mr Ologunagba issued a statement on Friday announcing that Mr Damagumu and Mr Anyanwu had also been suspended.
