Former governorship candidate of the Lagos State Labor Party (LP), Gbadebo Rose-Bibour, has criticized the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu over lavish spending amid widespread hardship.
According to a report by Naija News, Mr. Rhodes Vivour, in an interview on YouTube’s Iyabo Ojo TV published on Sunday, alleged that Mr. Sanwo-Olu was misusing taxpayers’ money.
He cited nearly £200m spent on paying personal legal costs, unspecified projects and earmarking £2bn to buy fans and consultants for the bus network.
“For example, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is using taxpayers’ money to pay his personal legal expenses, or how they are spending, yes, almost 200 million naira, or almost 2 billion naira, which When we ask them how they use it, whether they want to gain fans or spend billions of dollars on bus routes and bus network consultants.
“Given the level of suffering that Nigerians and Lagosians are facing, we need to have accountability and transparency. Our government must ensure that our funds are used in the most efficient manner possible. must be used and that is the job of the opposition.”
Rhodes-Vivour also said he is learning from past mistakes and working to strengthen his political campaign, hinting that he will run again for the Lagos gubernatorial election.
He highlighted continued efforts to engage the people of Lagosia through health assistance programs and micro-medical insurance plans that provide free treatment worth up to ₦6,000.
He further added, “By the grace of God, we are working. We have gained a lot of traction, we also realized our mistakes, the loopholes we created, and we We are working on that.
