Imo Ikenga Ugochinyere, the House of Representatives member for Ideato North-South constituency, has said that Rivers State Governor Siminalaya Hubala will contest and win the 2027 elections.
Imo Ugotinyere said any plan by the military in Abuja to usurp the federal quota in Rivers State would create a security crisis in the state.
He said this while addressing voters in Akokwa, Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State.
He noted that the move by 27 Rivers State legislators to take control of the state House of Assembly is impossible. He explained that 27 members defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) when there was no crisis within the party.
He revealed that the intention of the lawmakers seeking to take control of the House of Representatives was to impeach Governor Tomihara.
“Let me ask you a question: If you seize the Rivers allocation, can you guarantee the security and payment of salaries to teachers and everyone?
“They want to let this place fail in order to impeach the governor. But let me tell you, Hubala will be there and will win in 2027,” Ugotinyere said.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MPs have called on Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Kekeleyekun, to take action on the Rivers State issue and ensure justice is done.
