Nigerian singer Raul John Jen-Jen, better known as Scales, has responded to a social media user who praised Afrobeats star Burna Boy for reviving his career.
This comes after a critic commented on one of Scales’ posts, calling his career “dead” and attributing its resurgence to Burna Boy’s involvement.
To score points, the troll mentioned the 2017 remix of “Temper,” which featured Burna Boy and was nominated for Best Collaboration at the 2018 Headies.
“This is the biggest reason why everyone hates you. Burna Boy was one of the people who helped you with your lost career,” the user’s post reads.
In response, Skales dismissed the claims, stressing that the African giant had not contributed to his success.
The 33-year-old singer claimed that the collaboration with Burna Boy was mutually beneficial.
“Listen, I’ll always protect myself, I love Burna, but you never say he helped me? No one ever helped me! Only the fans and the grace of God. We have a collaboration that benefits us all. We can’t play another set if it doesn't benefit us.” he wrote on page X.
