Season 2 of ‘Back To School’: Onitsha Social Media Foundation awards scholarship to 10 indigent children

Ten indigent children were on the 30th of August awarded one year scholarship by a non-governmental organization, Onitsha Social Media Foundation, a budding foundation made up of young Social Media influencers in Onitsha.

The children emerged victorious after a rigorous Spelling Bee and Current Affairs session.

The founder, Gwen Divy Ifeson noted that the top three students who emerged winners last year bagged scholarship opportunities till they finish secondary school.

She however explained that the foundation is planning lots of program for the youths and the indigent.

The event was graced by the Senior Special Assistant to Anambra State Governor, Dozie Okpalugo and had brief lecture on Catching them young to embrace skills by Nonso Anene, Manager of Iyienu Hospital Ogidi.

Also , Dr Ukwu-Bank Richards spoke on taking care of a child’s eyes.

The foundation seeks to address the big gap between the haves and have not, and projecting the Onitsha City positively to the outside world.
