Police said Markel Davis returned to St. Louis a few days ago and detectives learned he was planning to shoot a music video on Tuesday.
ST. LOUIS — A suspected gang recruiter wanted on assault charges was arrested Tuesday after police learned he was filming a music video in St. Louis.
A spokesperson for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said police have been searching for Markel Davis, 23, for more than a month.
Davis, who was wanted on fugitive warrants for first-degree assault and armed criminal action, fled the area in September as police began searching for him.
According to police, he returned to St. Louis several days ago, and detectives learned he was scheduled to film a music video in the area of North 14th Street and Cass Avenue on Tuesday.
When detectives arrived at the scene, they saw a Jeep with multiple “heavily armed” people inside and Davis entering and exiting the Jeep.
They attempted to pull over the Jeep on its side, but a short pursuit ensued, during which police deployed spike strips. A gun was also thrown from the Jeep.
During the pursuit, detectives learned that Davis entered a home near where the Jeep was first discovered. When the jeep stopped, the four people ran away. All were arrested and taken into custody, and three firearms were recovered.
Detectives then entered the home near 14th and Cass and found Davis hiding in the bathtub, the police department said.
