Abdullahi Abbas, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, has warned Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to abide by a court ruling restraining the holding of local government elections to avoid chaos in the state.
Naija News reports that Yusuf reaffirmed the state’s commitment to holding local government elections scheduled for October 26, 2024, despite the Federal High Court’s ruling invalidating the vote. Ta.

The court invalidated the election procedure on the ground that the card-holder, a member of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), was an executive officer of the electoral commission.

Governor Yusuf made this declaration on Thursday night at the Sani Abacha Indoor Stadium while presenting NNPP flags to 44 party chairmanship and municipal council candidates.

He stressed that the nation will not tolerate destroying the peace currently enjoyed by its people.

However, Governor Yusuf, speaking while presenting flags to NNPP candidates at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano on Thursday, said no one can stop KAANSIEC from conducting elections.

However, the Kano APC Chairman in a statement in Abuja on Friday called on Governor Yusuf to comply with the court’s directive, noting that ignoring the court’s directive is a clear invitation to anarchy and lawlessness. .

Prime Minister Abbas warned Yusuf to refrain from any actions that could lead to a breakdown of law and order in the province.

He said, “The governor should simply respect the law. As a law-abiding citizen concerned with the development of our beloved Kano state, the governor should refrain from any action that could throw the state into chaos. . Inciting people to take the law into their own hands is not a hallmark of good leadership.”
