In a development that Nigerian football fans have been waiting for, the Super Eagles have safely returned home from Libya. The team arrived at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport at around 5:48pm Nigerian time today after several difficult hours in North Africa.

The players, who were stranded at a Libyan airport in an incident that drew the attention of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), landed on a chartered flight.

Their story began when the Super Eagles’ plane took an unexpected turn on its way to Benghazi. The team was forced to land in Al Abak, two hours away from the match venue. Upon arrival, athletes and officials were left stranded at the airport without water, food or internet access, raising concerns about their safety. The players were also required to remain in the arrivals hall for hours without clear explanations from Libyan authorities.

However, the team will soon board a connecting flight to Abuja to regroup and plan their next steps after withdrawing from the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Despite facing challenges in Libya, the Super Eagles remain resilient for the upcoming matches.
