People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Bode George said the party’s internal crisis was caused by the 2022 Presidential Treaty.
Naija News reports that George warned that he must follow the party’s constitution in order to avoid repeated confusion at the party’s February 29th National Executive Council.
In an interview with Channels TV on Friday, the former military governor of Ondo State warned party members against disrupting plans to build a party in unity.
He acknowledged that the NEC meeting is not easy, but emphasized that all decisions will be achieved in line with the party's constitution.
He said: “We allow discussion, we allow discussion, we allow discussion, we allow friendship so that we can exercise our voices. Allow us to forgive ourselves. At the end of the day, it is decided purely on the basis of legality, the constitution, and the direction set out by the founding father of our party, because this party is Because it’s not a private company.
“And I appeal to all sides to settle. Those who are bent into hell with personal ambitions will find your way. Bots, take a walk. It’s there. Yes, we should not move away from it. This crisis began with the treaty we had, the presidential treaty held in Abuja. And we will settle down and people will emerge as presidential candidates. They have said that there is a norm that it appears as the national chairman of the party and all other organs of the party.
“There are rules. If we follow the rules, the operation of that treaty will lead us to this confusion and we must avoid it for the future of future generations in this country, so we are now in the lesson. I hope you’ve learned that.
