Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ali Madaki, has claimed that a plot to remove him from office is being orchestrated by former Kano governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
In an interview with Daily Nigerian, he said the attempt by the “deposed national leadership” of the NNPP to remove him from office was a futile conspiracy.
He added that those who consider Kwankwaso the alpha and omega have gone too far in their desperation.
He explained that the NNPP caucus does not have the authority to remove him from office.
Madaki said, “Article 7, Rule 14 of the House of Representatives Standing Orders states that “After proper notice to the House, the majority and minority parties may change the leader and the leader, and the deputy leader and the deputy leader.” However, such changes may only be made if: It was created by a majority of the member parties in the House of Commons.
“Those who signed this letter are not members of our party. The chairman and NWC members have been removed by the recent court judgment. Therefore, it is nothing but a wasted effort. Based on the court judgment, Mr. Kwankwaso is not a member of the NNPP.
“Some of the members who claim to have signed the letter of support are not members of our party.
“But they always shamelessly dance to the music played by Kwankwaso.
“I am not perturbed by their propaganda strategy and the good thing is that the legitimate leadership of the NNPP led by Chief Boniface Anibonam will address the press on this issue.”
