The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Tony Okocha, has accused Rivers State Governor Similanai Hubara of trying to disrupt the judiciary.
Naija News reports that Mr. Okocha, in an interview with journalists in Port Harcourt on Sunday, alleged that the governor is sponsoring some of the pending lawsuits against the state APC.
Mr. Okocha urged Mr. Hubbaru not to interfere in the affairs of the party in the state or else face the wrath of God.
The APC chief said Mr. Hubala is no longer affiliated with any political party and wondered why he could not use his powers to influence the PDP instead of interfering with the operations of the APC in the state. He claimed that there was.
He said, “I pray for him (Hubala) to change his style or God’s wrath may befall him.”
“He is walking around in the APC with all this strength and he would have used that to register himself. I thought he would. He doesn’t belong to any political party.
“What we can say if there is an election in the state is that he has no political party. The party that was supposed to sponsor him for the election, the PDP, will never introduce him because he is not a member of the party. Because he doesn’t. He’s now trying to divide and rule and confuse the entire judiciary.”
Reacting, the Special Assistant on Electronic Media in Hubala City, Jerry Omatsogunwa, said the governor was too busy to meddle in the affairs of the APC, stressing that the governor could not exert any judicial influence over the party.
He said the governor is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and is an active member of the PDP Governors Forum and attends its meetings.
Mr. Omatsogunwa advised Okocha to abide by the court’s orders and stop blaming the governor for the party’s woes in the state.
