Thugs said to be led by Tony Adun’s younger brother, Kapuepwe, popularly known as Tony Kabaka, on Thursday invaded the Edo State secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and destroyed property worth millions of naira.
The attackers, said to be affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC), vandalized doors, windows and office equipment at the PDP secretariat. Several electronic devices, computers and other valuables were taken away during the break-in.
Witnesses reported that the thugs appeared to be on a mission to ransack the building and attack those inside.
Reacting to the incident, the Publicity Secretary of the Edo PDP Caretaker Committee, Mr. Chris Osa Nehikare, condemned the attack, describing it as a desperate and reckless attempt to intimidate the PDP.
He called on security agencies to investigate the incident and ensure those responsible are brought to justice, warning against further attempts to destabilize the PDP in Edo State.
Mr. Nehikare said, “The APC’s mobilization of insurgents to attack our party secretariat on Thursday will frustrate and thwart the efforts of our great party to reclaim the mission rightfully given to it by the Edo people. It is extremely unfortunate and regrettable that they desperately mobilized thugs.” Governor’s election on September 21st.
“Thugs led by Kapuepwe, brother of Tony Adun (also known as Tony Kabaka), invaded the secretariat, destroyed and carried off assets worth millions of naira.
“If the APC is confident that it will win the elections free and fair and has nothing to hide, why are they getting nervous and mobilizing thugs to attack the PDP secretariat? .”
Nehikhale added: “This is barbaric and completely reprehensible and we call on the relevant security agencies to thoroughly investigate the attack and ensure the perpetrators of this dastardly act are brought to book. “I will.”
“PDP remains resolute and will not be intimidated or deterred in its pursuit of justice and restoration of our mandate.”
“However, we call on party members and supporters to remain calm and resolute in the face of provocations as we explore all legal avenues to reclaim responsibility.” he complained.
