The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected demands by the opposition to reconsider the policies implemented by President Bola Tinubu and instead called on it to support the government in achieving the goals of the A New Hope agenda. Ta.
The party, in a statement released on Friday, responded to accusations from the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alleging that the APC rigged the September 21 Edo State governorship election. .
The PDP maintains that the ruling party’s actions are part of a broader strategy to establish a one-party system and totalitarian rule in Nigeria.
PDP Central Party Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, expressed concern over the deteriorating socio-economic situation in the country, which he attributed to the policies of the APC-led government.
Speaking to reporters after the central bank meeting held at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja, Wabara reiterated the opposition’s position on the government’s alleged manipulation of the election.
In response, APC Public Relations Manager, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim, refuted the opposition’s claims in a telephone interview with Daily Trust.
Mr. Ibrahim stressed that the APC is committed to preserving democracy and has no intention of undermining it. He said the opponents’ claims were baseless and an attempt to divert attention from their own shortcomings.
“APC, as a ruling party, has no intention of imposing anything on this country that will undermine democracy,” Ibrahim said.
“APC is a progressive party. It is a party that is committed to bringing about change that will bring the dividends of democracy to the people. Democracy only thrives where there is opposition, but opposition Be constructive rather than destructive.

Mr. Ibrahim said the policies of the APC-led government were not anti-national but aimed at improving the socio-economic well-being of the people in the near future.
He urged opposition parties to abandon the idea of policy change and support the government.
