President Bola Tinubu has called opposition politicians “reactionary politicians” and called on voters in Ondo State to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming governorship election.
The President made this statement on behalf of Vice President Kashim Shettima at the grand finale of APC candidate Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s campaign rally in Akure on Wednesday.
Addressing a crowd of supporters, Mr. Tinubu asked whether former governors of Ondo State would have supported any political party other than APC.
“If Ajasin were still alive, would he vote for the APC or a reactionary party? If Akeredolu were here, would he support the APC or a reactionary party?” he asked. Ta.
Mr Tinubu said the vote for APC was a step towards progress and continuation of development projects in the South-West region.
In a major announcement, Tinubu shared the approval of the Federal Teaching Hospital in Ondo State and pledged continued investment in the growth of the state.
“To whom much is given, much is expected,” he said, appealing to voters to cast their votes in large numbers for APC.
In his address, APC candidate, Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa, stressed his loyalty to the legacy of late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and assured the people that he would continue to drive the development of the state.
“I am here to promote the vision and ensure the development of Ondo State,” Mr. Aiyedatiwa said.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, expressed confidence that the party will win in all 18 local governments, adding that the APC is ready for victory. “We are ready to succeed in Ondo State,” he declared.
Lagos State Governor and Chairman, APC Electoral Council for Ondo, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged his supporters to avoid confrontation with the opposition parties and encouraged them to make their voices heard through voting to ensure victory for the APC.
APC National Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, was also present at the rally and presented the party flag to Mr. Ayedatiwa and his running mate, Dr. Olayde Adelami.
Ganduje affirmed the party’s determination to support Ayedatiwa’s victory, saying, “We are here to see Ondo State align with the progress made through the APC.”
