The US-based business executive and real estate mogul passed away at the age of 72 on September 17, 2024 in Crete, Illinois. Burial rites will begin on Friday, with interment to take place on October 5th.

In a personal tribute to the former governorship aspirant of Ondo State and chief executive officer of Benor Management and Development Company, President Tinubu described him as a very intelligent and positive person. said.

“His fierce determination and tenacity reflected the passion we all shared for Nigeria.

“His spiritedness may have gotten him into trouble at times, but it was a testament to his vibrant spirit and unwavering commitment to the betterment of himself, his community, and his nation.” he said.

Recalling their mutual interaction in Chicago, Illinois, President Tinubu said that throughout their meeting, Mr. Ben, as he affectionately called him, consistently demonstrated his intellectual ability and business acumen. He said he never hesitated to show his talent.

The President recalled Ben’s extraordinary philanthropy, particularly his key role in securing and donating over $42 million worth of hospital equipment to Nigeria, primarily in Lagos State.

“Despite the extensive, difficult and time-consuming nature of the work, Ben never charged a penny for his efforts,” he noted.

President Tinubu also reflected on Mr. Oluwole-Johnson’s dedication and love for Nigeria, which motivated him to run for governor of his beloved Ondo State after receiving enthusiastic support from Chicago’s Nigerian community, including the president himself. .

“Although he came up short, his boldness and courage earned his esteemed wife, Moji, the affectionate title of ‘First Lady’ in my book and in the hearts of many in Nigeria.” I earned it,” he said.

President Tinubu commended Ben for his unwavering dedication to Nigeria despite his failing health.

“When some of us formally formed ‘The Caring Group’ to express our love for Nigeria and especially Lagos State, Ben continued to be a key contributor.

“Even as his health began to decline, he continued to offer his business expertise and never wavered in his resolve. Thanks to his loving wife, Moji, who always represented and carried out his wishes. His influence and contributions continue to be felt today.

“I am so sorry to see Mr. Ben go, but I take solace in the great family he leaves behind. May he rest in complete peace,” the president said.
