Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State says Nigeria is facing economic challenges due to years of misgovernment.
Speaking during the celebration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day in Kaduna on Tuesday, Sani said many households were facing severe economic hardship.
The governor said Nigeria continues to prosper despite facing several socio-economic challenges.
“Today reminds us not only of our sovereignty, but also of the courage and resilience that defines us as a people,” Sani said.
“We recognize that nation-building is a marathon, not a sprint, a journey of step-by-step progress rather than a single achievement.
“As difficult as the road may be, we plod on, driven by the fact that independence is not an end or a destination in itself; it is a continuous process of building, striving, and overcoming.
“We have enjoyed 24 years of uninterrupted democratic governance. Economically, Nigeria has experienced economic growth and has become Africa’s largest economy.
“Our country is facing economic hardship due to an unfair global economic system and years of misgovernment.”
Sani said his administration is providing aid to the poor, vulnerable and underserved people in the province.
The governor said the government is making “significant investments” in agriculture, education, health, innovation and entrepreneurship to transform the state’s economy.
